Agam Kumar Nigam
Agam Kumar Nigam is a distinguished Indian singer known for his melancholic songs and is notably recognized as the father of the acclaimed playback singer Sonu Nigam. He began his singing journey very early, performing in small stage shows like Ramleela when he was just four years old. At the age of 15, driven by his passion for singing, he ran away from home with a friend to pursue his dreams but eventually returned. In 1968, he made a decisive move from Faridabad to Mumbai to seriously embark on a singing career. However, during that time, the Bollywood music industry was dominated by legendary singers such as Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and Mukesh, which limited his opportunities for playback singing. Consequently, Agam Kumar Nigam performed extensively in orchestras and stage shows to showcase his talent. Later, he relocated to Delhi, where he worked as a stage artist for nearly eighteen years, finding greater appreciation and success. He launched his debut album "Uski Yaadon Mein" in 2002, followed by a series of albums under the title "Bewafaai," starting in 2004 and continuing across several sequels, which marked a turning point in his career. Agam Kumar Nigam met his wife Shobha during an eleven-day live concert where they were singing partners, and their professional association developed into a lifelong relationship. Despite not achieving massive fame in mainstream Bollywood playback singing, Agam Kumar Nigam has enjoyed a respected career with a loyal audience for his soulful music and numerous stage performances.
