Ramji Maloji Sakpal
Ramji Maloji Sakpal, born on November 14, 1838, in Pune, Maharashtra, was a Subedar Major in the British Indian Army and the father of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. He hailed from Ambadawe village in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. Ramji was a member of the Mahar caste, which was considered untouchable at the time. Despite facing socio-economic discrimination, he served with distinction in the army and rose to the rank of Subedar Major.
