Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimharao

P. V. Narasimha Rao (28 June 1921 – 23 December 2004) was the 9th Prime Minister of India, serving from 1991 to 1996. Born in present-day Telangana, he was a scholar, lawyer, and seasoned Congress politician. Rao is best known for initiating major economic reforms that liberalized India’s economy, opened it to global markets, and set the stage for rapid growth. He led the country through a severe economic crisis, with his finance minister Manmohan Singh implementing landmark policies. Rao was multilingual, wrote extensively, and had a deep interest in literature and culture. His tenure also saw challenges like the Babri Masjid demolition. He passed away in 2004 and was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2024 for his transformative contributions to India.

Satyamma Pamulaparthi

Satyamma Pamulaparthi was the wife of former Indian Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao. She was born around 1921 and married Narasimha Rao in 1931 when both were about 10 years old, as was customary in their community at the time. Satyamma came from a similar social and cultural background as Rao, and their marriage was arranged by their families. She remained his lifelong partner until her death on 1 July 1970.Together, Satyamma and P. V. Narasimha Rao had eight children: three sons—P. V. Ranga Rao, P. V. Rajeshwar Rao, and P. V.
